As an applications-orientated research, development and consulting facility, bifa provides a wide range of products and services covering every aspect of "technical environmental protection". They include process engineering (mechanical engineering and apparatus construction), microbiological technologies and test methods, integrated operational environmental protection, sustainable waste management, system and process analysis, strategy development and policy advice, process technology engineering and chemical analysis.
In a nutshell, they involve the following three areas: Technology.Materials.Strategies.
bifa develops individual partial and all-in-one solutions for its clients from all industries and for public institutions. Material flows and energy flows are analysed and assessed, industrial processes and operational environmental concepts are developed. The range extends from eco-efficiency analyses presented in a form appropriate for the target group to turnkey delivery of complete plants and strategic and policy advice. bifa also produces expert opinions as part of approval procedures necessary under immission control legislation, which are recognised by the authorities as well as by the public.
The issues handled are in most cases very complex and specific: Depending on the issue to be examined, interdisciplinary teams of engineers, economists and social scientists, as well as chemists and biologists, are deployed to work on projects. High-performance infrastructure is available in our Augsburg location. It includes chemistry and microbiology laboratories as well as a large technical centre with test workshop.
bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH (bifa) was founded in 1991 by the Bavarian state government, the City of Augsburg and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Swabia in Augsburg.
