Consequences of climate change - perspectives for the construction industry, trade and production industry

note 28.08.2014

Presentation of the results + guidelines: 16.10.2014 (Erding) and 21.10.2014 (Augsburg) Climate change is already an important topic in Bavarian companies. They increasingly have to deal with the consequences of climate change on their production processes, raw materials markets, sales channels and with climate and energy-related regulations.

And the companies frequently ask themselves: How can the business adapt to the unavoidable consequences? Which climate-related changes will affect the companies the hardest in the future? How, for example, will changes in average temperatures or increasing local extreme weather situations affect the companies? Are they prepared, I.e. do they have suitable adaptation capacities to ward off risks or to grasp opportunities, which lie in the development of a climate-focussed economy and therefore new markets?

On behalf of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protections, experts from the Economic Geography and Tourism Research Chair (Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich) and the bifa Umweltinstitut examined these issues, among other things, and together with seven companies, they developed individual measures for adapting to climate change.
The most important results of this study and practical ideas for businesses will be presented at the event and made available in the form of guidelines.
