These include process engineering and technical chemistry, energy technology and energy management, biological process engineering and analytics, life cycle assessment and systems analysis, as well as strategy development, communication and policy consulting.The bifa Umweltinstitut was founded in 1991 by the Free State of Bavaria, the City of Augsburg and the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Today, bifa is one of the leading application-oriented research, development and consulting institutions in Germany, offering customized, wide-ranging environmental services and conducting research for practical applications.
Our customers come from all industries and receive individual consulting, analysis and development services in the environmental field from us. Our research partners are companies, municipalities and renowned institutes. Based on extensive experience in technical, ecological and economic issues, we work on special tasks, but also analyze complex value chains. Pollutants and hazardous substances can harm the environment and health, cause fires and endanger production processes. Stricter limits and other regulations require constant adjustments. Microbes cause hygiene risks and process disturbances. Risks must be identified at an early stage and avoided or minimized where they are unavoidable. Our technical center and the associated workshops give us the opportunity to develop innovative processing, sorting and other treatment processes with the help of the latest plant engineering and information technology and to tailor them to your needs. A pilot plant area of 600 m² and a free test area of 1000 m² are available for tests. A modern process control system enables rapid connection to MSR technology.
The connection to the digital building technology enables the control of:

Central monitoring is also installed using a fire alarm system, smoke and heat extraction systems and a gas warning system. Qualified craftsmen guarantee a flexible construction or conversion of systems and ensure the connection of all supplies and media. With its technical center, bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH offers the opportunity to test, analyze and evaluate complete and variable process chains at low cost. The entire value-added chain of an innovation is included, from the theoretical processing of the task set to the development and testing of solutions to the large-scale introduction of the right scale.
