Climate Action Plan for the Student Services Organisation in Augsburg
The bifa Environmental Institute is supporting the Augsburg Student Services Organisation (studierendenwerk-augsburg.de) in developing an integrated climate protection strategy, funded by the National Climate Protection Initiative (NKI). The project is based primarily on the preparation of a greenhouse gas inventory in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.
The inventory covers all relevant emissions from the organisation under Scopes 1, 2 and 3. It analyses energy consumption in residential halls and the administration building, electricity and heat supply, goods flows within the university catering service, and other indirect emissions along the value chain. The GHG inventory forms the basis for a potential analysis and the development of climate protection scenarios aligned with the German government’s climate targets.
Based on the results, bifa identifies actionable measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency. Furthermore, bifa supports the participatory process of concept development through workshops and the involvement of relevant stakeholders.
The bifa Environmental Institute has many years of experience in GHG accounting in accordance with the GHG Protocol, the preparation of Corporate Carbon Footprints (CCF), and in environmental assessment using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). bifa supports organisations from the private and public sectors in systematically recording greenhouse gas emissions, identifying reduction potentials and developing effective climate strategies.
