MaKoSaTex dialogue Process
Working Together to Develop Solutions for Used Textiles in Bavaria
As part of the project “Development of concrete measures to address the current challenges faced by Bavarian municipalities in the collection and recycling of used textiles (MaKoSaTex),” the bifa Environmental Institute, on behalf of the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection (StMUV), organized two dialogue sessions to discuss, together with municipalities and practitioners in the used textile recycling sector, the current challenges facing Bavarian municipalities in the collection and recycling of used textiles, as well as to develop possible solutions.
Workshop I – “Challenges and Solutions for Ensuring the Collection and Recycling of Used Textiles in Bavaria”
The first dialogue session took place on May 22, 2026, at the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection. The workshop focused on the key question: “Ensuring and optimizing the textile recycling process in Bavaria: What are the levers for positive influence?” . Against this backdrop, the approximately 15 participants developed and discussed measures for the following areas
- collection: Ensuring and shaping the future collection of used textiles
- awareness-raising: Information campaign—ideas for design and dissemination
- sorting / recycling: Possible business and recycling models
Workshop II – “Scenario Workshop on Developing Models for Short-Term Solutions”
The second dialogue session on July 13, 2026, at the bifa Environmental Institute built on the results of the first workshop. Following the presentation of the first draft for the planned information campaign by Marieke Franzen of The Futurity, the approximately 20 participants shared their views and experiences in interactive workshop sessions. In addition, the measures developed in the first workshop were translated into models of short-term solutions for ensuring the collection, sorting, and recycling of textiles in municipalities using the Lego® Serious Play method.
